Simba Cement cherishes support for Kili International Marathon 

SIMBA Cement brand has continued to be the leader in sponsoring the Kilimanjaro Premium Lager Marathon, having put its weight behind the race for 20 years now.

It is said that the international race, which is an annual feature, has consequently been improving every year.

Speaking immediately after the completion of this year's Kilimanjaro Premium Lager Marathon held in Moshi yesterday, Tanga Cement PLC's Business Manager Peet Brits said this is the 20th year of their participation as veteran sponsors and runners through the Simba Cement team.

Brits revealed Simba Cement and Kilimanjaro Premium Lager Marathon organizers have been improving the showdown, which has marked its 21st edition this year.

He said Simba Cement's sponsorship for the showdown has come about due to the importance of sports, especially the marathon, which brings together the employees of Simba Cement that ran together and meet stakeholders and customers.

"In our participation, we didn't look at our titles or jobs, we saw the CEO distributing water to the runners...we spoke the same language from the gate to the top in collaboration with the employees who are runners (Team Simba,) together with other runners, stakeholders, and customers," Brits revealed.

He disclosed after the race, his company's employees that featured in the marathon met the company's customers and stakeholders in the region and exchanged ideas for improvement in services.

Brits moreover stated they are happy to participate in the 21st edition of the race and do well in the showdown, as well as providing water distribution services to athletes battling it out in 42km and 21km events of the showdown, who ran past the company's water distribution station.

Tanga Cement PLC's boss noted: "We are sure that the runners are happy to pass through our Point 8 station during this race and get service, we will continue to participate in this event every year."

He revealed: "We love and appreciate Kilimanjaro Premium Lager Marathon and we are happy to sponsor it by distributing water to our customers and all stakeholders who ran past our water point."

"These customers come from the Northern regions including Arusha, Manyara, Kilimanjaro, and Tanga and other regions."

The official further said they planned to do better this year compared to the previous year by increasing the number of runners for the Simba Cement team as well as rallying behind the runners.

He also said that they have had a team of runners that includes employees, who also compete in other races, and his company ensured that all expenses including equipment, accommodation, transport, and entertainment are handed to each participant so that they can win.

Brits noted that they have had various competitions for Tanga Cement PLC's departments which have motivated the company to support the Simba Cement team.

Tanga Cement PLC's boss said they have this year broken the record by having a total of 28 participants in the Kilimanjaro Premium Lager Marathon.

According to him, they have, through the marathon, uniquely celebrated Tanga Cement PLC's success of the year 2022 in which the company emerged as the overall winner of the President's award for the Best Producer of the Year.

The company moreover ended as the overall winner of the Financial Statement award issued by the Tanzania National Board of Accountants and Auditors (NBAA).
