Kiiza has scored a brace during his team’s return leg match of the league against hosts Stand United played at the Kambarage Stadium in Shinyanga last Saturday.
Kiiza will possibly remain on top of the scoring chart until this week’s Mainland premiership derby when his side plays against holders Yanga at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam, unless another striker has scored feast of goals.
Yanga’s Tambwe is glued at 14 goals mark waiting for the derby to weigh his possibilities against his former team, Simba.
Besides Tambwe other players who are also contesting for the golden boot award includes Yanga’s Zimbabwean striker Donald Ngoma who has ten goals, Elias Maguri of Stand United who has been stuck at nine goals.
Azam’s Ivorian striker Kipre Tcheche and Simba striker Ibrahim Hajib share eight goals mark as another Azam player Shomari Kapombe and Ndanda FC’s player Atupele Green share seven to their collection kit.
Before the Saturday league game, Kiiza had tied with Young Africans’ Burundian striker Amisi Tambwe on 14-goal mark.
Last season’s golden boot award winner Simon Msuva is still in obscurity scoring barely four goals to stay 12 adrift of Kiiza. Other players who have won the title during previous seasons still out of the picture to repeat the feat include Azam skipper John Bocco as well as Simba striker Musa Hassan ‘Mgosi’.
While Bocco has attempted to score six goals, Mgosi is still looking for his goal of the season.
