Junior tennis tourney pushed back

THE inaugural Max Malipo junior tennis tournament which was scheduled to take place this weekend at Kijitonyama courts has been pushed to June, tournament organiser Inga Njau confirmed yesterday.

Njau said the tournament has been postponed due to heavy torrential rains pounding Dar es Salaam. This is the second time in a space of two weeks that the junior tournament has suffered postponed.

“We are sorry to inform you that due to the heavy rains we have experienced lately and the bad weather forecast we have, together with the sponsor, decided to postpone the junior tennis tournament to mid June. The tentative dates are 18-19. We will come back to you with more information later”, said Njau

The two day tournament that was expected to attract more than 60 juniors, was cancelled at eleventh hour due to heavy downpour in the city last week and was expected to take place on April 30 through May at Kijitonyama Tennis Club.
The players will compete in singles in the age categories between under 6 to 16.
