TCRA poured 10m/- while Asa diary chipped in two more millions as an individual who pleaded for anonymity added three more millions for a total 15m/.
The donation was presented to the team by deputy Minister for Information, Culture, Arts and Sports Annastazia Wambura at the team’s base in Dar es Salaam.
The deputy minister said the money is available for the players with each getting 300,000/- in the event they win the first leg and similar amount if they post another victory in the return leg to be played in Harare in a fortnight.
In the event the team loses, then the money will be handed over to the management to cover all camping expenses that have been accrued during preparations.
However, the team is training the hard way as players have not fully been paid their per diem dues during the ongoing camping.
‘I have been impressed by the way you have been attending training sessions at the camp that is serene with remarkable discipline’.
I will press hard to search for more assistance to iron out your financial dues where possible’, said the minister.
The Tanzania Football Federation’s secretary general Celestine Mwesigwa expressed his sincere appreciation to all parties who contributed to the otherwise timely donation.
He also presented a request to the deputy minister to attend the match on Friday as a way to motivate the players of the team.
Meanwhile, the match will be officiated by Ethiopian referee trio of Lidya Tafesse, Yehuzewdubizua Yehuw and Tsige Sisay while Woinshetkassaye Abera is a reserve referee.
Democratic Republic of Congo’s Geneviev Kanjika is match commissioner. The last time Twiga Stars qualified for the AWC was in year 2010 when South Africa staged the championship in Johannesburg.
