Ngome set for Union handball preps

Union handball champions, Ngome, are expected to start preparations next week ready to defend their title in this year’s version of the tournament set for early next month in Dar es Salaam.

Ngome players were given a short break after competing in the national championship in Tanga recently.

Team coach Fadhili Issa said yesterday that training will be intense to make sure that they retain the union title after winning the Tanga event.

“We have to train well because Zanzibar has good teams which can give us a strong challenge if we don’t start preparations early,” he said, elaborating that his team will have two training sessions daily.

Issa said they will play a number of friendly matches with Dar es Salaam teams before the start of the championships.
