Phiri said he is unfazed by position of his team on the standings table as he is sure to earn more points in the remaining fixtures.
Mbeya City are tenth-placed on the log and Phiri said the target is to scale the standings up to the eighth place at the end of the season. He said his side has four matches remaining on the season’s fixture and would possibly earn points to stay safe and in respectable position at the end of the season early next month.
Phiri said he is bound to miss four key players that include injured Raphael Daud and defender Haruna Shamte who picked up three yellow cards in the previous games to be ruled out of the Mtibwa tour.
He also mentioned attacking midfielder Haruna Moshi who is nursing a malaria bout and skipper Temi Felix who is on the sidelines for long spells following their family problems.
The coach named full line-up of players earmarked for the Morogoro trip as goalkeeper Juma Kaseja, Haningtony Kalyesubhula, John Jerome, John Kabanda, Yusuph Abdalah, Deo Julius, Tumba Lui, Hassan Mwasapili, Kenny Ally, Hamidu Mohamed, and Meshack Samwel. He said the above named players and officials were expected to board a bus to Morogoro yesterday evening.
Mtibwa Sugar are fourth-placed on the standings table and are ruled out of title contention but safe from relegation.
Mbeya City have played 26 matches, winning eight, drawing six and lost the rest to hit a 30-point mark.ends
