Gymkhana to host Lake Energy golf tournament

THIS year's edition of the prestigious Lake Energy golf tournament bringing together children and adults is expected to take place at Dar es Salaam Gymkhana Club's golf course on Friday.

Head of Sales at Lake Energy Group, Stephen Munguti, told journalists in Dar es Salaam yesterday that the organizers would hand over prizes to the winners of the tournament upon its completion.

The event, Munguti noted, aims to support President Samia Suluhu Hassan's leadership in identifying and developing the talents of children and adults in sports.

He said they are aware that sports, as is the case with other professions, can be a lucrative career, adding through the showdown, they believe they will spot golfers that will shine in various clubs and eventually represent Tanzania internationally.

"Lake Energy Group is supporting the government under President Samia Suluhu Hassan in its efforts to promote sports and athletes, we understand that besides studies, children need to be physically and mentally developed," the official noted.

"For that matter, through this tournament, our children will be physically strengthened and develop a habit of participating in sports regularly, just like other participants," Munguti revealed.

The tournament is sponsored by Lake Energy Group, the leading company for manufacturing, sales, and distribution of petroleum, diesel, gas, lubricants, iron, and other products, as well as providing transportation services for various goods.

The tournament's coordinator, Fredrick Laiser, said that they have hosted it to support and develop the talents of children and adults in the popular sport.

He, moreover, appreciated Lake Energy Group for agreeing to sponsor the tournament, urging stakeholders to come out and put their weight behind the tournament.

"We invite parents, guardians, children, as well as golf enthusiasts and sports fans, in general, to come and participate in this tournament at Dar es Salaam Gymkhana Club," Laiser stated.
