In a meeting held at the agency’s offices in Dar es Salaam’s Ubungo Maji area, Dr Kihamia was told that employees were not thrilled by shortage of buses using the dedicated infrastructure meant to ease commuting in the commercial capital.
The employees also raised the issue of power outages which they said affect provision of services at the bus stations.
In response, he asked the employees to work with professionalism, integrity, honesty and dedication to increase productivity.
The aim of the meeting was to get to know each other and put in place strategies to continue providing the best public transport service.
"As long as we are at work, we should consider the ethics of public service, especially keeping sensitive government issues confidential," he said.
Dr Kihamia urged every employee to work professionally, including having a work plan for day, week and month, which he said helps improve productivity.
He called on heads of departments and units to also put in place work plans so that everybody in the agency works professionally with dedication.
He gave an example of a training programme for employees that every employee in each department should be familiar with so that when an opportunity arises for an employee to attend training, it does not appear that they are favoured but merit.
