The Toyota System of Active Stability (SAS) forklifts have been supplied by Effco Solutions (T) Ltd, which officially handed them over to TBL last week.
The company also provides a range of other products that include cranes, earthmoving equipment and low-bed trucks for abnormal haulage.
Speaking at the handing over event, TBL’s National Distribution Manager James Nyoike said the Toyota models will help them to significantly reduce operational costs and improve productivity.
Nyoike said that the Toyota SAS trucks have a patented dynamic system comprising 10 sensors, three actuators and controllers, which apart from enhancing efficiency also boost operational safety.
“These forklifts have a new system that will in one way or another bring safety and efficiency to our company, which highly value protection of employees and goods,” he said.
TBL Fleets Administration Manager Boniface Mayaga said spare parts of the trucks will be sourced locally from Effco Solutions, unlike those of Hyster and Linde that have to be bought from South Africa.
The General Manager of Effco Solutions, Ramadhani Saidi, said their company is currently the sole dealer of the Toyota forklifts in the country, adding that with the new models improving productivity at TBL, they expect to get more supply orders from the company before the end of this year.
“The Toyota SAS forklift trucks will greatly improve TBL’s working efficiency,” he said. According to him, the company’s client base comprises blue chip multi-national corporations and large local corporates in the region.
Effco Solutions (T) Limited is a subsidiary of Effco Solutions Group whose major shareholder is Catalyst Principal Partners, an Eastern Africa focused private equity fund that invests in emerging and mid-sized companies with strong growth and profitability prospects.
Saidi said catalyst financiers include the International Finance Corporation (IFC), which is the private sector arm of the World Bank, the Africa Development Bank, German Development Corporation (DEG), Commonwealth Development Corporation (CDC), and Belgium Development Corporation (BTC) among others.
In July 2014, Effco Solutions Tanzania acquired Minesite, a company that provides a range of services to mining firms in the country.
“Effco Solutions Group is also a regional plant hire company that is focused on providing heavy haulage, logistics support services and civil engineering services to the mining and construction sectors among others in East Africa,” he said.
