The houses which are located at Shangani in Mtwara municipality will be used by Bank of Tanzania employees according to Prof Ndulu.
Speaking during the handing over ceremony, NHC Managing Director Nehemia Mchechu said that the 10 houses are part of 50 houses that BoT has purchased from the real estate developer
Mchechu said the central bank has purchased 30 houses worth 30bn/- at Shangani project which NHC is jointly undertaking with BancABC under mortgage arrangement.
“These houses are meant to accommodate demand of the general public for residential purposes, there are another 20 houses here at Shangani which the public can buy,” the NHC Director General, noted.
Speaking during the same ceremony, BancABC Head of Corporate and Investment Banking, Khalifa Zidadu said his bank is supporting the Shangani project and Raha Leo project in the natural gas rich municipality.
“For the past two years BancABC has been collaborating with other companies including NHC to build residential and commercial buildings to the public in general,” Zidadu said.
The BancABC senior official called on the public to take advantage of his institution and NHC’s collaboration to get better homes.
Receiving the houses, Prof Ndullu said a new central bank branch for Mtwara will commence operations next November.
“Housing is one of the key aspects of development and that is why we have invested in these two NHC projects here in Mtwara because we want our staff to be comfortable while pursuing their tasks,” the central bank chief noted.
He urged NHC to speed up construction of the Raha Leo project and hand over all BoT purchased by next September so that the central bank’s staffs can start moving in ahead of the November official business starting date.
