Yanga advance to CAF second round

Young Africans SC yesterday qualified for the CAF Champions League second round after the side drew 1-1 with APR of Rwanda at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam.

Yanga scorer Donald Ngoma and coach Hans van der Pluijm celebrate the team’s goal.

The teams met in the Champions League first round, return leg match at the National Stadium.

The Jangwani based side eliminated the Rwandese armed forces team on 3-1 aggregate, having won 2-0 in the first leg match played at Amahoro Stadium in Kigali a week ago.

Yanga will now play the winners of the match between Al Ahly of Egypt and Angola’s Recreativo do Libolo in the second round.

The visiting side scored first in the third minute of the game through Fiston Nkinzingabo who connected home a Jean-Claude Iranzi pass.

Donald Ngoma leveled for the home side in the 28th minute after coordinating well with Zimbabwean countrymate Thabani Kamusoko.
