The team’s head coach Nasra Juma said her charges are ready for today’s encounter as they bid to chalk maximum points.
The coach said the team has trained well for the game and upbeat to emerge winners.
She said though they failed to secure any international friendly during a three-month long preparation ahead of today’s game, she is very confident players will use the knowledge and skill which she imparted.
She acknowledged that failure to secure an international friendly is a major setback as they would have used to build players’ confidence and also to test new game plans.
“The team has been training since February 7 in preparation for this game, we were training twice a day and on top of that we played a friendly match against men veterans, it was the game which I used to polish my team and also it helped to motivate and give confidence to the players”, she said.
She said Twiga stars will launch attack from the word go as the objective is to score more goals at home.
Juma also disclosed that her technical committee failed to get DVDs of their opponents in action and also no one from her bench watched the Zimbabweans playing, but assured Tanzanians that they will emerge victorious using past experience and knowledge she and her players have on how Zimbabwe women team plays.
“We know how Zimbabweans play, we have played against them on a number of occasions, we will use 4-4-2 format as our aim is to attack them from the word go , we want to score more goals at our backyard so that when we play them at their home venue we will not have a big job”, she said
On his remarks Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) information officer Baraka Kizuguto said preparations for the game is over and urged all football loving people in the country to cheer the team.
“We have only three officials from Zimbabwe Football Federation, but the team and the technical panel have not jetted in.
We have been informed that they will come at 16:00 hours, I don’t know if they will have time to train at Azam Complex ahead of the game and also the officiating panel from Ethiopia will arrive later today (yesterday)” he concluded.
