The Tanzanian outfit's supporters have, in the past few years, seen their outfit progress to the premier continental showdown's Group Stage with ease. The problem is how the club made it after the recent performance.
In a match in which Simba SC needed either a 1-1 draw or a victory of any margin, Power Dynamos found themselves scoring both goals of the match- one was converted by the Zambian club and the other was an own goal that witnessed Simba SC leveling matters.
It did not make Simba SC fans happy given they wanted the outfit to possess swag and prove it was in total control.
Fans want to see the ‘Msimbazi Reds’ play in such a way that the fanatics will call for an increase in entry fees for the outfit's fixtures.
Unfortunately, the present Simba SC squad does not showcase the displays that will impress its followers.
To make matters worse, the brand of football that Simba SC fanatics with to see their outfit showcase is now played by age-old rivals, Yanga. This is the most infuriating thing for the Msimbazi Street squad's supporters.
A few years ago, Simba SC was dominating matches against AS Vita Club (DR Congo), Al Ahly (Egypt), and others. Today the club is struggling against the Zambians.
Where is Simba SC made up of Larry Bwalya, Clatous Chama, Lius Miquissoine, John Bocco, Meddie Kagere and Hassan Dilunga?
Simba SC played with tenacity and domination, this is where the fans failed to understand the club's head coach, Roberto Oliveira, popularly known as Robertinho.
People close to Robertinho should tell him something early. His close people, who are Tanzanians, should alert him about something, his work is in doubt... the results do not matter.
He has seen Simba SC win all matches in the Premier League, he has won this season's Community Shield mini competition in Tanga and the team has booked a place in the CAF Champions League Group Stage.
However, he lives in a country where everything is not enough and the truth is that he lives in a more difficult country than he thinks.
It is not enough because he has been given another measure in his results. The majority of Simba SC's fans want to see the side play the way Yanga plays.
If Yanga was playing a brand the outfit had showcased, once such players like midfielder Abdul-Aziz Makame were turning out for it, then the Simba SC fans would not have been complaining about their club's displays but Yanga is playing more attractive football and this is tormenting many Simba SC lovers.
When I saw one of the recent Simba SC clashes, I felt the outfit's players were not quite fit. They hardly move the ball faster, they do not get any faster in positional plays, in football words, it is known as pressing.
Modern football requires players to do many things quickly. After that, if a person combines it with the talent of the existing players, it is clear that the outfit will dominate a soccer match.
Robertinho may be creating something but it is influenced by the side's fitness coach. The fitness coach may be doing his job correctly but Oliveira's methods are not working for his players.
At the end of the day, the head coach is the one who leaves once the outfit's leadership feels the supporters have started losing trust in him.
Many coaches have been fired because of the clubs' supporters' pressure and many players are benched because of the fanatics' pressure.
What happens is the fans might pressure the club's leadership to leave Robertinho but a person may find out that a section of leaders concurs with the supporters.
As the days go by, Yanga seems to be heading to the Group Stage with a more competitive team than Simba SC.
A good number of Simba SC followers want their team to change because they know the club's quality.
Simba SC was, in the 2018/19 CAF Champions League, the team that led the group containing Al Alhy and AS Vita, having secured 13 points.
The current Simba SC is not convincing and could not be compared to the previous squad. There are indeed statistics here and there to think about but sometimes if a squad is not playing very well such an outfit is close to posting horrible results.
Registering good results is probably the aspect that supports Robertinho but when the club's honorary president, Mohamed Dewji, goes on the X platform and writes that the team is about to kill him because of its results, and the way the side plays, then an individual knows the coach is in trouble.
And now Simba SC and Yanga have made it to the 2023/24 CAF Champions League Group Stage. Tanzanian teams are currently ready to take on any outfit on the continent and, when a side books a place in the Group Stage of the premier continental showdown, it should expect to confront the best teams.
The first thing that turns out to be interesting is that the outfits have both secured progression to the Group Stage. In recent days, they have moved their rivalry to the continental tournaments' ties.
In the past, the two outfits' fans used to mostly argue about either which team has scored the most goals or which outfit has the most Premier League titles.
Now the supporters' laughter is what pushes them towards success. Which outfit will not go past the Group Stage and which will sail through to the quarterfinals?
As far as I know, the only relief the fans will have will come about when either the outfits crash out of the Group Stage or they make it to the quarterfinals, otherwise, a host of supporters in the country will stand against one of them.
Robertinho has to change his squad's performance, the direction he has taken is more difficult, and it is difficult for the club to get good results by chance.
If Simba SC was pushed by Power Dynamos, then the Msimbazi Street outfit still does not have the strength to defeat the likes of Esperance de Tunis.
