The band's leader, Ebrahim Makunja alias 'Commander Ras Makunja', who is also its founder, said The Ngoma Africa, formed in 1993, was out to promote Tanzania's music abroad.
"This band was founded on August 13 1993 to promote Tanzania's and East Africa's dance music," Makunja noted.
"Since its inception, it has been the only African band that has lasted for many years in Europe and has successfully wowed thousands of dance music fans," the artist said.
Makunja said the band is the best ambassador for the Swahili language on the national platforms due to having composed many songs in the language including the song titled 'Mwenye Kukaanga Mbuyu'.
"When we talk about culture, the arts, and music broadly, it is a profession that represents the society and the nation in the world, and here is the focus of this industry and the artists in general," he said.
He said The Ngoma Africa Band has had a significant contribution to Tanzania and continues to do so due to the troupe's contribution nationally and internationally.
The leader said the band has had many nicknames, including 'FFU Ughaibuni' and 'Viumbe wa Ajabu', adding that it has turned into an institution that produces talented musicians that hold sway on international platforms.
"Let's join The Ngoma Africa Band in preparation for its 30th Anniversary celebration and also become good ambassadors of our culture and music on international platforms abroad," he said.
