Kiiza fails to extend scoring spree

SIMBA striker Hamis Kiiza has failed to extend golden boot award score sheet beyond 16 goals during a match against visiting Mbeya City played at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam last Sunday.

Simba striker Hamis Kiiza (C) is sandwiched by Mbeya City defending duo of Tumba Sued (R) and Hassan Mwasapili.

Kiiza has opened a two-goal cushion over Yanga’s Burundian striker Amisi Tambwe in the ongoing Mainland premier soccer league with ten rounds to wind up the season.

In the same weekend Tambwe who featured for Yanga during a derby against Azam played at the same venue last Saturday, was also unable to close on the gap created by Kiiza.

The chase towards the golden boot has been hot and is most likely to exceed the pre-set limit of 19 goals set by Kenyan Boniface Ambani during the 2008/9 season.

Ambani featured for Yanga during that season and his tally was subsequently duplicated by Musa Hassan Mgosi, Kipre Tcheche, John Bocco and Mrisho Ngasa.
