Disabled athletes to compete in Moshi

TANZANIA Paralympics Committee (TPC) has disclosed that 60 disabled athletes from Dar es Salaam, Moshi, Arusha and Zanzibar have confirmed to take part in the ten-kilometer races as part of Kilimanjaro Marathon to be held on Sunday February 28.

TPC secretary general Peter Sarungi said this year’s edition has attracted many competitors in that category and the number is expected to increase as the event is open for every disabled person.

The event is supported by GAPCO that has dished out one million shillings for the event’s eventual winner.

Sarungi said registration of the event takes off today and the disabled athletes are covered for food, accommodation and travelling.

He said this is the best opportunity for TPC to unveil competent disabled athletes who might be selected to represent the country at international platform.
