Coach Mgunda targets success in November fixtures

SIMBA SC’s interim head coach Juma Mgunda is adamant his side is prepared to face the difficult schedule of the 2022/23 NBC Premier League for November as they face six matches while believing they will collect many points.

In the coming NBC Premier League games, Simba SC will start playing against Singida Big Stars at Liti Stadium in Singida on Wednesday before returning to Dar es Salaam three days later to host Ihefu SC at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium.

On November 16, Simba SC will take the pitch at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium to come up against Namungo FC and will three days later face Ruvu Shooting before locking horns with Mbeya City FC at Sokoine Stadium on November 23.

The last clash for Simba SC this month will pit the side against Polisi Tanzania on November 27.

Mgunda pointed out they want to perform well in every match to meet the expectations of Simba SC members and fans.

He said he knows there is no easy match for them and the competition in the showdown has been intense, so he and his players have to fight tirelessly to achieve their targets.

The coach stated: "There are no easy matches, we need to organize ourselves well in all matches we will play this month to achieve our goal."

"Each one in his place should fulfill his responsibility, I believe if we do that, the possibility of lifting the title this season will be discussed at the end of the season," Mgunda noted.

Mgunda said he is happy with the return of some of his key players who were injured in previous ties, including fullback Shomari Kapombe who was part of the squad which faced Mtibwa Sugar on October 30.

"Regarding the situation of injuries in the squad, as for now so far right-back Israel Mwenda and midfielder Jimmyson Mwanuke are still receiving treatment," he said.

He has said that Mwenda is expected to return to the pitch soon while Mwanuke is expected to be out for a longer time.

Mgunda pointed out: "I know the rivalry in NBC Premier League involves us and Yanga, but the basic issue is that we look more at our matches to make sure we play well and collect points, especially during November."

Currently, Simba SC is sitting second in this season's NBC Premier League standings with 17 points from eight games.

The Msimbazi Street squad sits three points behind age-old rivals, Yanga, who are at the top of the Premier League standings with 20 points.
