Arusha amputee soccer team set for national sporting events

ARUSHA has outfitted a special amputee soccer team for young people with physical disability which will represent the region in national sporting events.

The new club, Arusha Warriors Amputee FC, currently based and practicing at the Sheikh Amri Abeid Stadium in the city, is made up of 19 members and counting.

Arusha Regional Commissioner John Mongela lauded the team and implored the business community, residents, and other sports stakeholders to come forth in support of the Arusha Warriors Amputee FC.

Mongela was speaking during the occasion for handing over special sporting kits to Arusha Warriors Amputee FC that were donated by transport company, CoastLiner Bus Service.

The donated consignment of playing kits includes sports uniforms, 10 pairs of shoes, and socks.

The Director of Coast Liner Bus Company Zohra Ally explained that her firm has decided to support sporting activities in the country and is happy to put its weight behind Arusha Warriors Amputee FC which now goes ahead to representing the region in future tournaments.

Earlier on the Coast Liner Bus management had also assisted Polisi Arusha netball team which represented the region in this year's National Netball First Division League in Dar es Salaam.

“At the Coast Liner Bus, we usually like to give back to the community what we earn because our company serves people,” Zohra noted, adding they will be doing their best to offer more support in the future.

Arusha Warriors Amputee FC secretary Abdulaziz Ally expressed gratitude to the management of Coast Liner Bus for their support to the team, promising to ensure that the club will focus on doing well.

Ally noted: “We are in preparation for several sporting events including the Mainland Amputee Football League, the forthcoming Taifa Cup as well as the 2023 Ndondo Cup."

Arusha Warriors Amputee FC skipper Ibrahim Mloe explained that the team is less than two months old since being put together.

“We aim at bringing together young people who are physically challenged to tap their sporting skills for both employment, entertainment, and carrying the regional flag to national and international events,” Mloe concluded.
