Dar soccer clubs ranked poorly in Africa

TANZANIA football clubs are missing on the top 100 of ranked clubs in the continent according a recent released by global football database.

According to end of last month’s release, FC Barcelona is the number one football club in the world with 2,077 points, trailed by Bayern Munich with 1,987 points, Paris Saint Germany on third position with 1,961 points while Real Madrid and Juventus are fourth and fifth positions with 1958 and 1928 points, respectively.
In Africa, Confederation of Africa (CAF) champions TP Mazembe top the continent with 1,589 points followed by El Merreikh of Sudan with 1,582 points, AS Vita Club of DRC are third with 1,581 points. Esperance of Tunisia have 1,572 points to stay fourth and on the firth place are Etoile du Sahel with 1,562 points.
Only Azam and Simba have secured rankings at 340 and 346 with 1,249 and 1,247 points, respectively.
“The release are updates after matches played on January 31, 2016 in the World” said part of the release from the football database.
However, this has received mixed reactions from football lovers as some questions why Dar es Salaam Young Africans (Yanga) who have been dominating Mainland premier league are nowhere to be seen on the list.
“Young Africans are the champions of East and Central Africa and Tanzania, why not on the list”

Some of the fans who queried sidelining of Yanga from the list include Shabaan Mangara from Forodhani Secondary School who wrote on the football database website page.

Another fan Sibusiso Mthenjane from Nelspruit, Mpumalanga in South Africa wrote “how does these ratings work, I can’t believe that teams that have accomplished more than others are below underachievers that is Sundown’s of South Africa and CS Sfaxien of Tunisia”.
It is surprising that the release has put South African premier league club Jomo Cosmos which was formed in 1983 and had all the required football infrastructures which include pitches and fully operational offices on position 394, below Simba SC which has no stadium or training ground.
The South African club has also won many titles and tournaments than Azam and has also produced players who are playing in some top leagues in the world.
However, Azam FC’s chief executive officer Saad Kawemba who is with his team in Ndola competing at an innovational tournament writes that due to the fact that his team is on first position in the country on the football database rankings, many teams have shown willingness to tour his club base so that they can learn how the club operates.
“We thank organisers of this tournament for giving us the opportunity to compete at this event, now our club (Azam) is gaining the respect and recognition, they see we have something very unique and they want to come to learn how this club is run, “, said Kawemba.
“All the team competing at this event has shown willingness to visit our club so that they can learn more. We expect Zesco to come to Dar es Salaam while enroute to South Sudan for their CAF club champions against AL Ghazala Wau FC, it’s likely they will camp in Dar es Salaam ahead of their game, we also expect Zanaco to come as well,” he said.
