Addressing residents of Kabuku township in Handeni District, Tanga Region during his working tour of the region, he directed authorities to determine the quantity of fruits produced in the area annually.
He directed the deputy minister to liaise with large scale fruit processing industries (noticeably Bakhresa and Jambo Products) to find ways of using fruits produced in the area.
Appealing to the residents to intensify efforts in environmental protection to reduce climate change challenges, he said excessive temperature and rainfall due to climate change had led to extensive damage of infrastructure and the outbreak of diseases.
He said it is important for Tanzanians to realise that environmental conservation is everyone's responsibility, thus the need to stop careless cutting of trees, burning forests and take up planting trees as a habit,.
Kabuku residents need to ensure that they focus on education for children in order to have an educated generation for their own benefit and the nation at large, he said.
Water minister Jumaa Aweso said that 25bn/- has been disbursed for a water project for Segera and Kabuku townships to end water woes facing the two areas.
The project is likely to take all of this year to finish and the contractor is already on site, he said, urging the contractor to expedite the work.
Any bottlenecks can be solved by ensuring a good working relationship wi9th local government officials as construction work proceeds, he said.
Deogratius Ndejembi, the Regional Administration and-Local Governments deputy minister in the President's Office (PO-RALG) said the Tanzania Rural and Urban Roads Agency (TARURA) has received 30bn/- to address various road infrastructure challenges countrywide.
The Sindeni - Kwedikazo road, 37.7 kilometers long is the key project for Handeni District, he said, elaborating that TARURA is urgently working to ensure that the roads damaged by heavy rains are repaired.
