TANGA Regional Commissioner, Waziri Kindamba has praised the CRDB Bank for encouraging the use of cards through the Tisha na TemboCard campaign to empower citizens economically, to finance development projects.

Handing over the prize to the winner of the Tisha na TemboCard Tukakiwashe Afcon CRDB Bank's campaign, RC Kindamba said that the bank is one of the major government’s stakeholders in the implementation of development projects.

He said the bank touches the people directly in a different ways including raising them economically.

“Right now the world has become a village by allowing someone from anywhere in the world to sell to another without even seeing each other. All this is possible due to strong communication systems, especially payments that CRDB Bank encourages. I congratulate you for these efforts because the government is doing everything possible to ensure that the inclusion of citizens in financial services becomes greater because it is one of the ways to accelerate economic development," he said.

Kindamba said that CRDB Bank also conducts different campaigns that involve people and give them different opportunities to improve their lives; this is the current example of Tisha na TemboCard Tukakiwashe Afcon, which encourages the use of digital cards to pay for services and products in different areas by giving different gifts to its customers.

"Fatima Mwatime Nundu has unveiled the winners of the Tisha na TemboCard and Tukakiwashe Afcon campaign in our region, so I believe other bank customers will continue to use their cards to make transactions so that we can find one sportsman who will go to represent us in Ivory Coast,” he said.

Fatima is the first winner of a sofa set worth 8m/- in the Tisha na TemboCard, Tukakiwashe Afcon campaign, run by CRDB Bank in collaboration with the international Visa Company that enables people to make payments using cards anywhere in the world.

Kindamba said: “CRDB Bank has built two classrooms and a teacher's office at Chuda Primary School in Tanga City. The bank also sent 50 desks to schools in Muheza district, and has sponsored the Tanga Regional Investment Forum launched last month by the Minister of the State in the President's Office (Planning and Investment), Prof Kitila Mkumbo.”

The bank has also given the Tanga city 500 fruit and shade trees and has sponsored the establishment of a nursery of 10,000 tree seedlings in Muheza district, and we all witnessed it recently sending humanitarian aid to the victims of the mud floods that occurred in Hanang district in Manyara Region. All this shows how close this bank is to the people."

Farid Seif, bank’s head card business said that the campaign launched on November 2 and will last until February 2 next year, offering different types of gifts that include indoor furniture, electronic devices such as televisions, refrigerators and 'home theatre' together with a ticket to Ivory Coast to witness the final of the Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon).

"Within these three months, CRDB Bank has planned to give these prizes in three phases as well to give the opportunity to many existing customers and those who will join within the campaign period to be a part of the victory. In the first phase, the bank has announced the winner of interior furniture and Afcon tickets. Our client Evelyne Gasper Rwebugisa has won a ticket to Ivory Coast to watch the Afcon final next year," said Seif.

Evelyne who is a resident of Dar es Salaam in Magomeni Street will join the other seven winners who will be sent to the Ivory Coast and will be paid for by CRDB Bank for the entire period they will be in the country enjoying football from the talents of the African continent.

In the second phase, Seif said that the winners who will be rewarded with electronic devices along with four who will get tickets to Ivory Coast and in the final draw will be given interior furniture, electronic devices and three winners who will go to the Afcon final early in the year.

Seif encouraged other customers and asked Tanzanians to join the services of CRDB Bank to put themselves in a position to win these prizes as there are still many and anyone can emerge as a winner if they use their TemboCard to pay for goods or services at petrol stations, restaurants, flight tickets whether domestic or international or when doing online transactions.

Despite the winners of the first draw, yesterday four other winners were found including Hamisi Shaban Taletale, Morogoro South MP, Josephine William Marealle and Dickson Christian Kabaka who got tickets to witness the Afcon final along with Marion Albert Casari who grabbed a set of equipment electronics that include a television, a refrigerator and a 'subwoofer.'
