The ruling party’s Ideology and Publicity Secretary, Paul Makonda, made the statement today when briefing journalists at the CCM’s sub- head office Lumumba in Dar es Salaam, noting that all ongoing provocations in fighting for those positions should stop.
“If there is someone who has ever contested for those positions or has the ambition of being an MP or a councilor, let them know that the party recognizes the current parliamentarians and councilors. Let them stop going about doing fundraising,” he stated.
Furthermore, he asked all party members to respect the incumbent leaders, including MPs, and give them full support.
“Let us adhere to our party procedures and respect the elected leaders for them to do their jobs well. Destabilizing a member of parliament or a councilor is to destabilize the implementation of our manifesto,” he added
The announcement comes as the country is set to hold local government elections and general elections in 2024 and 2025, respectively.
