The four-day meeting is set to bring on board 1,100 participants from within and outside Tanzania.

Dr Dorothy Gwajima, Minister for Social Development, Women, Gender and Special Groups, made the remarks when speaking to journalists in Dar es Salaam yesterday.

She said the meeting will be held in Dar es Salaam from March 11 to 14 and will involve participants from all walks of life globally.

She said that Tanzania had the opportunity to organize the meeting due to several efforts and successes achieved in preparing and implementing the Integrated National Program for Child Care, Development and Early Childhood Development.

Dr Gwajima said the achievements include being able to strengthen the management and coordination by bringing together all the stakeholders in the child care and development sector to work together child care and development.

“Science tells us that the human brain grows every time, so it is very important to strengthen the management and coordination of these integrated services in the right balance to develop the child and achieve full growth," she said.

Dr Gwajima said the theme of the International Conference on Child Care, Development and Early Development for the year 2024 is Investing in Early Childhood, Building Human Capital Along the Life Course.

The minister said the slogan encourages all stakeholders including decision makers, policy makers, social leaders and parents to invest in the upbringing, development and initial development of the child.

"This conference is a great opportunity for our country where local experts will be able to exchange professional experience on investment and provision of care services, development and early development of a child,” she said.

She said the meeting will help find new methods that will help improve the coordination and implementation of MMMAM interventions by bringing all sectors together targeting children.

"Economically, the conference will bring foreign currency to the country and for our entrepreneurs they will earn income through the services they will provide to visitors, including tourism services, hotels, transportation and financial services,” she said

The Minister said the conference has attracted major stakeholders in child care and development issues in the world who have confirmed their participation and have professional sessions to discuss investments in child care and development for Tanzania.
