College is the place where a student can study and also pursue various other activities of their interest. All of this can’t be achieved without proper balancing of the passions a student pursues with his or her day to day studies.
Proper time management and discipline are both required for a student to attain good grades in his or her studies and also succeed with other activities.
Being a student is hard these days because first of all you will need more money to finance your various needs while at college, so this would result to students having part time jobs and still balancing that with their studies.
However difficult this may be, we’ve got to nurture our talents with all the energy we’ve got together with having part time jobs for the better for each one of us. Some resort to acting, others singing, sports and among others.
How well then could we balance our schedule in order to attend to all the activities we love to do without interfering with our study timetables? Finding the time to do everything may be tricky and stressful at times but these few tips on balancing our time could be of help.
First and foremost have a schedule which is more likely the same as a timetable for the activities you want to do during the day. This schedule could be prepared a day before or a night before.
This could help you remember what you plan to do and the time you plan to do it. To enhance good memory of the schedule, you could set an alarm or even write small papers and stick them at your bedside or even on the wall.
Personally, I prefer to wake up very early at dawn to study and later attend lessons in class till eleven in the morning then head out and about for some other activities. So you have to figure out what works best for you because everyone has their own personal ways of success.
Keep out or away from social sites the likes of face book, instagram, twitter, whatsaap groups, tango, viber and among many others and only put aside some specific time to visit them and not anyhow and at any time.
This is due to the fact that social sites have been a major reason for wastage of time in this 21st century for students and the youth at large. By doing so, one gains the discipline of time management and eventually an ample time for balancing various social and professional activities with his or her studies.
You also have to avoid disturbances and distractions while studying because distractions shift our brains somewhere else and in turn we lose focus on what we are doing. Studying in a room that’s blasting with loud music is a waste of time and energy and maybe you could do that when you have some time to spare.
Focus is the ultimate goal towards a healthy lifestyle between balancing work, passions pursued together with studies.
We also need to be realistic in attaining our goals in all the activities we do. Spending an entire day for example attending to other non academic activities and only sparing some few hours studying isn’t realistic because there is no balance of activities.
This kind of habit would lead to failure in some areas. It’s very important to balance the two hence being realistic becomes the big deal.
Eventually we have to prioritize our activity which means attending to each of them with their list of importance. Try making a list of everything you need to get done during the day in the order of their importance and in this way the things that absolutely need to be finished will be finished before you even know it.
Studying and attending to other activities of our choice has some benefits which are very crucial for our development. This include the benefit of having network opportunities where you get to meet people from various fields who may be of greater help to you in the future.
Development of useful skills is also a major benefit because students develop various skills while working and nurturing their God given talents.
A stable cash flow is also another major benefit for students because having a stable income helps you pay debts quicker, attend to personal needs and also you could be of help to your friends and family.
While working and attending to other activities still at college isn’t easier, students need to give it a try because in the long run it’s all for their own benefits.
