VISITING Navy Kenzo Group took Morogoro music fans by storm when they performed impressively during the Taifa Moja concert staged at the SabaSaba grounds on Saturday. The fans had something to smile after witnessing a high classic entertainment show from one of the leading Bongo Flava groups during a concert aimed at bringing awareness to the public on how to send and receive money across any of the three partnership networks of telecommunication companies of Tigo, Airtel and Zantel at the same rate.
Led by artistes Emmanuel Mkono alias Nahreel and Aika Marealle, the dazzling show kicked off at noon with up and coming music artistes ahead of Navy Kenzo group, the official invited artist group that took the stage while driving thousands of fans crazy. The group’s singles that mesmerized fans included ‘Kamatia Chini’.The Taifa Moja campaign, which involves transfer of money through mobile telephones across any mobile network in Tanzania, has received huge apraisal from Morogoro residents with most of them saying it has come at the right time to ease money transfer services that used to be challenging particularly at rural areas.
Speaking during the concert at the Sabasaba grounds, the residents said the interoperability will help reduce cost they incurred when sending money to a different network before.
Augustine Ezekiel, a Morogoro resident and a frequent user of mobile money transfers, said mobile telecommunications companies partnering together to make sure that customers send and receive money across any network at the same rate is something that should be acknowledged.
“This partnership of making sure customers can send and receive money across networks at the same rate has substantially minimised cost as well as improving security of our money. Now it is not an issue of receiving short text message (sms) but the money is channeled directly to users accounts,” Gomba Ray, a Kihonda resident, said.
“Best of all is that now someone has no fear that if he or she doesn’t draw money within seven days, then it will go back to the sender,” he added.
Representatives of the mobile companies said they have partnered in mobile money transfer so as to do away with challenges customers were experiencing earlier.
“Airtel has always been committed in making sure that our customers have simple and easy access to mobile money transfers and that is why we have partnered with other companies in this service, Airtel Sales Manager for Central Zone, Jamal Mayanja, said.
Tigo Sales Manager for Morogoro Region, Abbas Abdulrahman, said his firm has given priority to the nation in enabling majority of Tanzanians to have an easy access to financial services.
“Tigo has established that the challenge affecting our subscribers in country in sending money across other networks is ironed out, that’s why we partnered with other companies to offer this service at the same rate,” he said.
