The channel, shown on DSTV Channel 160, has since grown to be the most loved local channel amongst the homogenous target market.
“The channel was initially launched as a predominantly movie channel coupled with lifestyle shows,'' Barbara Kambogi, the Head of Channel since its inception, stated.
''As audience demand grew, this inclined the platform to add local dramas, Telenovelas, lifestyle as well as Indian dubbed content which has a massive following in the market that we operate in,” she disclosed.
She noted; “We work with the best producers whom we groom and mentor to produce world class content.”
“Throughout the past five years, the channel has gone through a complete content overhaul whilst addressing the entertainment needs of the Tanzanian viewers and developing the entertainment industry and economy of the region.''
In line with the five year anniversary, she noted, Maisha Magic Bongo launched two new dramas, namely 'Nyavu' and Slay Queen'.
The dramas have since taken Tanzania by storm, in addition to a show, known as 'Date My Family' (DMF).
In the DMF, a dating show with a twist, the bachelors and bachelorettes share a meal with three different families in the hope of finding their happily ever after partners.
She disclosed; “Our mandate as a channel is to provide our audience with thought provoking as well as entertaining content which captures our cultural nuances as Tanzanians.''
“It is not by chance that the channel has survived in the most detrimental economic times. As a channel we continuously study audience behaviour and adjust our content mix to suite the market at hand”.
Barbara pointed out the channel is also equipped with a Content and Marketing Team that is equally skilled in broadcasting and always on the lookout for new and fresh stories as well as innovative ways to launch and excite the audience.
The Maisha Magic Bongo Channel Head further announced a few additions to the channel content mix as a gift to the Tanzanian viewers.
The content includes 'Jua Kali' as well as 'Pazia' which are both set to premiere in January 2021.
