TWB, NSSF to training entrepreneurs

Tanzania Women’s Bank (TWB) in collaboration with the National Social Security Fund (NSSF), Temeke Regional Office, have started a training programme for entrepreneurs.

Managing Director of TWB, Margareth Chacha

The bank, which is targeting entrepreneurs with low income who are seeking to emancipate themselves economically, revealed at the weekend its plan to bring services closer to such customers through loans.

Speaking at the launch of the training, Ilala Municipal mayor Charles Kuyeka, who was the chief guest at the event held at Nyantare Hall in Tabata, Dar es Salaam Region, congratulated NSSF and TWB for organising the programme which is aimed at educating entrepreneurs on the importance of saving for the future as well as ensuring members of NSSF are able to access healthcare among other benefits.

The mayor also requested the Fund to sustain the training sessions so as to enable many entrepreneurs to benefit from the services provided to members.

The mayor called on entrepreneurs to participate in large numbers in the training whose aim is to empower low income earners to ensure they are financially secure when they grow old.

For her part, the managing director of TWB, Margareth Chacha, listed loans that are available to customers as pieces of land that have been made available in collaboration with a town planning company, Ardhi Plan Ltd of Dar es Salaam.

Other loans on offer, she said, included cabs, Pick UPs, tricycles (bajaj), motorcycles, and cash for businessmen and employees. Chacha added that the aim of the bank was to empower entrepreneurs who earn low incomes to grow and be able to compete with major businessmen.

She promised that her bank would continue to provide training to entrepreneurs and bring banking services closer to ordinary Tanzanias, including educating them on how to get loans with low interest rates and be able to develop their businesses. She requested the trainees to open accounts with TWB to gain access to the bank’s services.
