The Vice President Mama Samia Suluhu Hassan is expected to launch the Summit and the key note speaker will be the UN Resident Coordinator Alvaro Rodriguez. The government of Tanzania has favourable policies that foster private-public-partnership (PPP) while the UN is the custodian of the SDGs.
The two day Summit is themed: 17 Sustainable Development Goals, 17 Sustainable Business Opportunities” and will give participants a closer understanding of the business opportunities available in the implementation of the SDGs and how to utilize them.
“The private sector is not only expected to dish out money but engage the communities in which they operate but in so doing reap the benefits of the business opportunities that again in turn foster realization of the SDGs,” explains ASB CEO and Head of the Summit organizing committee Raymond Mtabayua.
The private sector will be under the stewardship of the Tanzania Private Sector Foundation (TPSF) and will be represented by a multi-sector delegation including the financial sector, mobile communications and renewable energy industries.
Other than TPSF, Partners at the Summit include the Tanzania Green Building Council (TZGBC), Refined Tanzania Limited and UN Global Compact, the World’s largest corporate sustainability initiative.
On day 1, survey results of Tanzania’s private sector awareness of the SDGs will be unveiled and the delegates will hold Panel Discussions while the Keynote Speech will be delivered by UN Resident Coordinator Alvaro Rodriguez who will be preceded by her Excellency the Vice President.
On day 2 the delegates and participants will network for the realization of the identified business opportunities.
