The two-day summit, will be held under the theme ‘17 Goals 17 Business Opportunities:
Setting the tone for the Post 2015 Development Agenda and seeks to encourage dialogue and exchange of sustainable business practices in particular encouraging private sector participation in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The summit is organised by the African Sustainable Business Magazine (ASB Magazine) and will be held in April (14th and 15th).
Participants at the summit will also share experience and ideas before coming up with proposals to promote a culture of sustainable business in Tanzania.
In press statement availed to The Guardian yesterday in Dar es Salaam, says Alinda Henry, the ASB Business Development Manager.
“As the summit evolves, you can expect a mixture of plenary sessions, practical case studies and opportunities to work together in re-defining the role of business in society.”
“The ASB summit will bring together a mix of business, government, and civil society to discuss and address emerging issues in the area of Sustainable Business in Tanzania,” she detailed.
The summit will also provide a platform to encourage private sector participation in the implementation of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Tanzania.
“In order for this to be realised, there is need for increased understanding of what SDGs are about, and to help organisations understand which SDGs are most relevant to their business goals and strategies,” said Raymond Mubayiwa, CEO of Edge Publishing (T) Ltd, publishers of the ASB Magazine.
The summit will engage companies from a wide range of sectors in the economy and membership-based organisations such as the Tanzania Private Sector Foundation (TPSF), CEO Round Table, Association of Tanzania Employers and the Confederation of Tanzania Industries (CTI) about the sustainability ideology.
“It will provide a unique opportunity for business and government agencies to meet and network. It will be an opportunity to form strategic partnerships and alliances vital to achieving our common objectives” added the CEO.
Summin up, Sharon Chidavaenzi, the ASB Magazine Sales and Marketing Manager said over 200 participants representing public, civil society, and private sector companies are expected to attend.
These include corporate CEOs and top management, CSR managers and government officials.
The African Sustainable Business Magazine is a quarterly publication that showcases core strategic issues of sustainable business i.e. supply chain management, stakeholder engagement, ethics and human rights, corporate governance, and sustainability communications.
