Speaking to ‘The Guardian’ recently, IAA Rector Professor Johannes Monyo said that a memorandum of understanding to that effect has already been signed Tamale Institute of Technology.
“This is one of our achievements to see countries such as Ghana are demanding courses being offered by our institute. We promise to provide them with the best of materials that are offered locally here,” he said.
Prof Monyo said preparations to start the master’s degree course have been completed and that currently they are waiting for time to commence.
“We have quickly positioned ourselves as a competitive, high quality institution among accountancy institutions and universities with a long history in the country.
The increasing number of graduands year after year is indicative of our continuous growth and commitment to excellence,” he observed.
In order to support the increasing number of students, the IAA Rector said they have continued to expand its physical and human resource capacities.
“As you may have witnessed now we have a campus in Dar es Salaam and this academic year we expect to offer the same masters programmes at our newly established campus in Mwanza Region,” he noted.
The IAA also collaborates with Tanzania Military College and starting next academic year, they will start offering a bachelor’s degree in military science.
The course is aimed at equipping army officers with necessary accounting and knowledge in management skills needed at their workplaces.
“IAA has already signed a MoU with Tanzania Military Academy (TMA) based in Monduli, Arusha for offering a Bachelor’s Degree in Military Science.
Our collaboration with another Tanzania Military College, the Command and Staff College (CSC) based in Duluti Arusha in offering Diploma and Postgraduate Diploma in Strategic Studies is continuing well and this year in June a third graduation ceremony will be held,” he added.
Speaking at the IAA Masters Degree graduation ceremony last week in Arusha, Chairperson of the IAA Governing Council, Rukia Adam said:
“Today is an important day for the Institute of Accountancy Arusha as we celebrate our First Graduation of two programmes, which are Master’s in Software Engineering (MSE) and Masters in Information Security (MIS),” Adam said.
She pointed out that the 6th master’s graduation ceremony was unique because the programme was done in Collaboration with Coventry University.
“Therefore, today’s graduands are all getting degrees jointly offered by IAA and Coventry University,” Adam said
On his part, UK based Coventry University Associate Pro Vice Chancellor International Business Development, Gary Armstrong said that after six years of collaboration with IAA, they will also sign another term of collaboration.
“Because the six years have been more successful in our collaboration, we will continue strengthen our partnership to help more Tanzanians get Coventry University master’s degrees,” Armstrong said.
He pointed out that there is no need for Tanzanians to travel to the UK for the master’s degree course hence the decision to partner with IAA in offering it locally.
