In a statement, ACT said over 100 participants drawn from all regions of the country will also address the issue of the planned commodity exchange market.
“Workshop participants will converge to deliberate about the chosen theme: markets for agricultural produce. The major issue is to ascertain the role of market information before producers make investment decisions on what to produce and by how much,” the statement added.
Agriculture sector stakeholders will also dwell on details about contract farming’s market opportunities, benefits and challenges; post harvest losses in relation to curb the over 40 percent crop losses through pests and diseases.
Challenges facing food safety and what should be done to contain the situation.
“Participants will get the opportunity to exchange ideas and share experiences. We have invited seasoned technical people from the public and private sectors to contribute in the discussion of specific topics.
We have also invited the CEO of the Commodity Exchange to talk about plans to put on board agricultural produce,” the statement concluded.
